Calcareous cave The Ryugashido

“It’s a must-to-go place in Inasa”
“Large cave in 250 million years-old stratum”
“Journey to the center of the earth”
Visitor’s Review

I can tell from my experience: It is absolutely wonderful!
Once inside the cave, I completely forgot about the outside world. The brightness, the smell, the sound, and the shape of stalactites…everything is unique.
Furthermore, while enjoying the atmosphere of the place,
I discovered the great and incredible story of men who dug this 400 meters tunnel.

It began in 1981 when two cave lovers found this place and asked the permission of Mr. Toda Sadao,
the landlord,to dig it.

After that, these men have done a very huge job, sometimes even risking their lives.
Originally, caves were extremely narrow and they had to crawl and dig for many years to secure their access to the public.

In short, a real little journey to the center of the earth where you can explore Japan from another angle.
